Warren McCann Professional Career

Warren Specializes in sports specific conditioning.

He has 20 years training experience.

His main focus is speed, power, agility and strength conditioning for all elite athletes in all sporting disciplines. He has consulted to many top sporting teams regarding speed training and conditioning.

These teams include the Highveld Strikers, Golden Lions, Super14 Lions, Kaizer Chiefs, Plascon Cricket Academy, SA Rhino’s, SA Fencing, International Tennis, International Tri-Athletes, Supersport United, Bulls U19 Rugby and Titans U19 Cricket.

Warren runs a highly successful Personal Training Business as well as Corporate Wellness programs for the corporate market. Some of his corporate clients include Jowell, Glyn and Marais Attorneys, Peregrine Holdings and Amalgamated Appliances (PTY) LTD.

Warren has also lectured on numerous sports related and wellness topics. He has written many training and health and fitness related articles for the following magazines, Financial Mail, Discovery Magazine, Elle Active Magazine, Manwees and HSBC.

Sports conditioning

Functional Training relies on movements and exercises that mimic what you do in real life.

Functional training prepares the body for the rigors of your specific sport and its movements, as well as improving the technical and physiological aspects of how the sport or its movement is performed. All these motions involve posture, balance, stability, and mobility.

Functional training can use an individual’s body weight as well as carious forms of resistance, for example medicine balls, resistance bands, dunbells and kettlebells.

Your body is made up of more than 600 muscles, 200 bones, hundreds of ligaments and tendons and about 72km of nerves. All of these are interconnected to form motion. Training the body through these ranges of motion is known as functional training.

The ultimate goal of functional training is to be highly functional in unpredictable situations when you have to move in any direction at a moments notice. Playing with your child, racing in from the rain while carrying groceries, reacting when your dog darts off after a cat, or playing sport are all examples of functional motion.
